The "for sale" sign is out front and the open house is scheduled, but has everything been done inside a

nd out to make potential buyers buy? Showing a home requires more than a little dusting and organizing. Help buyers imagine themselves living in the home, which means removing photos and some personal items. Here are some tips to prepare the house for a successful showing.

Get a head start on packing and clear the clutter. Sweep the sidewalk, cut the lawn, clean the curb, as well as dust windowsills and wipe down countertops. Don’t stuff items in cabinets and closets. Store, donate or throw away items that have accumulated. Moving large and other furniture into storage can also help buyers see the potential of each room. Organizing hidden spaces, such as kitchen shelves and closets, will also appeal to potential buyers.

If there are leaking faucets and holes in the wall, it’s worth fixing, as well as cracked tiles and sticking drawers. Possibly repaint rooms in neutral colors. That brightly painted bathroom is not everyone’s preference. A clean house from top to bottom shows well.
